The Ronkonkoma Fire Department was activated for a residential structure fire through a direct call to our emergency dispatcher on January 20th 2026. Upon arrival, fire was reported to be on the exposure 2 side exterior near the electric meter and service line to the home. On further size-up, smoke was pushing from the eves of the 1st floor and fire was reported to be on the exposure 2 side within the residence. First due engine crew made entry and extinguished all visible fire, however, the fire has already extended into the attic space of the 1 story converted apartment. Truck company made entry to the main residence, a two story PD, and located a knee wall within the 1/2 corner bedroom on the second floor with heavy fire. The fire was contained to the knee wall until a second hose line was advanced to the 2nd floor and the fire was knocked down. While truck and engine companies operated on the second floor, other crews pulled ceiling in the 1 story attached apartment with heavy fire in the attic space. Between the crews working in the apartment and the second floor teams, the fire was brought under control and overhaul operation were conducted.
