The Ronkonkoma Fire Department was activated for a Residential Structure Fire at 1649 HRS on November 19th 2017. Upon arrival of the first units, the department was re-activated for a working structure fire and additional resources were also requested from the mutual aid departments. Under the charge of Chief Timothy Blewett, Chief of the Department, crews worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire while attempting to salvage as much of the residence as possible. A little less than an hour later, at 1740 HRS, the scene was declared under control and salvage and overhaul operations commenced until it was determined that there were no further hazards and crews could be released from the scene. The operation went smoothly with no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
