The Ronkonkoma Fire Department was activated for a residential structure fire Saturday morning at 0839Hrs. First arriving unit was met with light smoke condition coming from the second floor of the residence, but upon further investigation one of the second floor windows blew out with heavy smoke pushing from it. At this point Captain Jimmy Wilcken notified dispatch to reactivate as a working structure fire and initiate the pre-plan. Captain Wilcken assumed command of the incident until First Assistant Chief Kevin Murray arrived on scene. Crews made entry to the residence and located the fire within minutes and initiated extinguishment operations while other crews performed a thorough search of the residence. The fire was contained to one room of the residence and extinguished quickly. The scene was deemed under control at 0900Hrs. After an extensive overhaul operation crews were released from the scene at 1016Hrs. No injuries were reported at this incident.
