The Ronkonkoma Fire Department was activated for a structure fire at 1622 hrs with multiple calls stating the structure was fully involved. Upon arrival, the first unit reported a fully involved structure with heavy fire visible and a reactivation for a working structure fire was requested. Under the charge of 1st Assistant Chief Kevin Murray, firefighting operations began with multiple mutual aid units requested for additional support. After battling the blaze for over two hours, firefighters brought the fire under control at 1825 Hrs. Crews remained on scene for over an hour overhauling and cooling down hot spots before being released from the scene to return to station. After refueling, cleaning and replenishing equipment used during firefighting operations the department was back in service ready for the next alarm. One person was transported to the emergency room with non-life threatening minor injuries. |
